Orangoo Spell Opera Hack

I could not understand why the load average on Orangoo's server jumped up to 1.5. What is going on? Why is Orangoo Spell so heavily used?

It turns out that some Opera users have hacked Orangoo Spell to provide spell checking in Opera!

Very my style :) The first hack seems to be made by a girl (my dream-girl maybe? hehe)

Links to the hacks:

I will probably re-hack the hack, so the traffic is pointed to Google :)

Hi, I got a question... I love your work... especially greybox is awesome... the only thing is that the script is not XHTMl 1.1 valid because of the [ ] used in the rel=
could you fix that? as soon as you fix this and i will be able to use the script I will donate... promised

Chris

I'll add a XHTML compatible syntax in the next iteration of GreyBox.

Next time please post your request in GreyBox Google Group.

Hi, I'm the author of this second version.

If I understand you right, you don't really like you site to be used in such a way? I'm sorry to hear that.

Sombria made it originally such way that was fair in my opinion. There are links to your projects in this script. Also, we didn't blocked any ads as you don't have any. ;)

If you don't like it I will respect your decision and stop updating script, altrough it will be very sad news to all Opera community...

Hi diz

I really like what you and Sombria have created. But unfortunately my server isn't able to handle all those requests.

But I got an idea how to solve it. And Opera community won't be sad. Stay tuned ;)

Great.
We are eagerly waiting. :)

Yes.

sorry for all problems... i hope you will find a way to solve this problem, your orangoo spell checking is very useful tool and we all appreciate your work...

I guess amix is now intending to kill gmail spellchecker by opera users traffic.

It's hard to kill google with anything. ;)
What's more, Opera's user base is quite small, not to mention user base of this script which is even smaller.

If firefox users would start using such script, that would be disaster. :)

What kind of server load are we talking about? I have a decent website that doesn't get enough use, so I might be able to take over the load for the script. I assume it's all JavaScript and PHP?
