Ajax based CMS

In the beginning of this semester I started to work for BiRC [Bioinformatics Research Center]. They needed a CMS system so they could manage their site better. I have now done some parts of it and I am ready to showcase this CMS.

What is the big deal about creating a *new* CMS? Why not use Mambo or Typo3 (which btw. are great). I didn't want to use them, since I knew I could build something that was better. The philosophy behind ajaxianCMS is:

  • The interface is simple to use. WYSIWYG kind of editing. Ajax is used to update content. "Everything" will be interactive.
  • The framework is easy to extend and manipulate. This is done by using some nice desgin patterns like Model View Controller.
  • The logic code is clean - it's Python.

Check out the QuickTime show-case [~6 MB]
