Thanks for the interesting classification of people.
I'm confused by the concluding sentence: "All this gives them a greater sense of free will."

I could imagine to program a robot that will have the same intrinsic desire to learn. I guess, it is better to avoid the use of the term "free will". I haven't seen a clear definition of it.

I'm sorry, but this is just utter bullshit feel-good crap. Who the hell would willingly categorize themselves as the fixed, static, easily-threatened, challenge-averse, push-over, effort-avoidant determinist?

I'm flattered that you chose my photo ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/d... ) to represent the Ancient Greek Empire on your blog of 26th March 2009 but would appreciate if you could credit me as the Photographer and provide a weblink, particularly when it's showing up on the first page of a Google Image search for Ancient Greece.

The free will is a bit fluffy, but I think he just means that people who believe in growth mindset believe that it's themselfs that can determine if they are good/bad at something - - and not their inborn abilities.

Ever heard a friend say they aren't good at maths, they have never been good at maths and they don't really want to do any maths? This is the kind of people that have the fixed mindset. Another example are people that aren't "social" and lack "social" intelligence (these people also have a fixed mindset in believing that they can't improve their social skills).

Of course, we can't really deny that there is a certain amount of talent involved, but a lot of skills can be learned and can be mastered.

Will add it right away, I think I found the picture somewhere on the web.

Interesting!

Interesting post! No one could be want to categorize to Fixed Mindset. All of us I'm pretty sure we want to categorize under Growth Mindset. But sometimes social and environment affects on us.
