Virtual Networking Environment
I have worked with Kristian J. Dorland, Lars M. Kristensen, Theis L. Kristensen, Paul Fleischer to create a really slick virtual networking environment. It's mostly designed to teach students TCP/IP networking.
We used VMWare, but with a twist: Our VMWare ran Ubuntu and then inside Ubuntu we used User Mode Linux to create the virtualization. Last year I and some others built a Web 2.0 interface for managing VMWare and that project was a blast. This time around we chose to implement the GUI in Java, mostly because it would make it easier for others to update the interface. Some screenshots: You can get started here: VNE is already used by students.
