Status, Vision, Goal: Productivity tip

A CS lecture from Thursday had a golden nugget on how to do laboratory exercises. It basically goes like this:
  • Status: Know where you are now
  • Vision: Imagine what you would like to accomplish
  • Goal: Make your vision into your goal. Work towards that goal

He said we should do this before every laboratory exercise. I think his tip is more general and you can use it on almost anything.

For example, do you have a project that you would like to move forward? Then try to think about your current status, your visions and what you need to do in order to fulfill these visions.

Better yet try to do following:

  • Imagine a vision for one of your projects, something that you would like to accomplish
  • Transform your vision into do able tasks and enter these tasks into Todoist

The cool thing is that you can check status on your project and you can see what needs to get done. Only thing left is to actually do the work :), but believe me, things get a lot easier when you know what tasks you need to do!
