How do you organize yourself?

I am interested in knowing how you organize your life? How do you get work done?
  • Do you only use your head?
  • Do you use a calendar?
  • Do you use todo-lists?
  • What motivates you?

I am doing a little research to see how people organize themselves.

Let me start off:
I mostly use my head - let me just say that this isn't optimal since I tend to forget a lot of things. I have tried really hard to use a calendar, but every time I eventually stop using it. Maybe it's because I am too lazy to update it or look into it, or because a calendar doesn't fit my needs.

When I work on something I follow a goal. Then I think of what needs to be done. When I know the goal and the path I get into a zone where I focus on accomplishing my goal. I find it very hard to work without a goal or without a path.

What mostly motivates me is the outcome of something. I also like the fun part of building something, being creative and using my imagination. I also really like to solve problems - it's like an adrenaline rush when I solve something that has bugged me for some time.

I would love to hear how you organize yourself and what motivates you.
